With a wide range of shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur, it should come as no surprise that this is a country that is taking retail therapy sincerely. More than eight large shopping centres can be found in the heart of the city, while around 12 extra shopping centres can be found in the greater Klang Valley area, just 20 minutes away. Each mall has a range of different shops, resulting in a different environment at each location, making KL a very diverse shopping experience. They have taken precautions during travel after COVID-19.
Pavillion Kuala Lumpur Shopping Mall
Located in the middle of the fashionable Bukit Bintang neighbourhood of Bukit, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur is a 1,37 million square foot complex consisting of three main components – a shopping centre, an office block and two residential buildings. Inhabiting prime real estate along Jalan Bukit Bintang, the mall was opened in 2007 and is remarkable for its trendiest and most successful shopping development in the city centre.
Suria KLCC
Located at the base of the 88-storey, steel-clad Petronas Twin Towers (up to 451.9 m), the crescent-shaped Suria KLCC is much more than a shopping and dining sector. The shopping and entertainment complex opened in 1999 at the intersection of Jalan Ampang and Jalan P. Ramlee is home to a plethora of fascinating attractions.
Mid Valley Megamall
The best shopping opportunity is not actually inside Bangsar itself, but rather close to it; the Mid Valley Shopping Mall is one of the biggest in South East Asia and is possibly the most popular shopping attraction in the Klang Valley. It's just a few minutes away from Bangsar, using a wide flyover that cuts through the narrower Bangsar roads that lead to other areas.
The Garden
Linked to Mid Valley Megamall through a covered pedestrian bridge and underground hallway, The Gardens Mall offers an upscale shopping atmosphere with a long list of luxury brands under its roof. Many of the brands featured in this mall include Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Adidas, Michael Kors, AX Armani Exchange, Gucci and Calvin Klein.
Starhill Gallery Kuala Lumpur
Directly connected to the five-star JW Marriott, Starhill Gallery is a state-of-the-art shopping centre with seven floors of premium retail experience. The Feast and Relish floors offer a range of fine dining choices, while the Indulge and Adorn floors display a selection of designer brands, the former concentrating mainly on luxury brands.
Berjaya Times Square
Along with a five-star hotel of the same brand name, there are also many food courts, an indoor theme park with an IMAX theatre, a cinema, a spa centre, a gaming arcade, a karaoke bar, a store, a post office, a bank, an IT mall and hundreds of retail outlets selling everything from food to clothes.
Eating and shopping are the primary attractions in Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur itself has thousands of restaurants offering any kind of food, plus a shopping mall selling the world's top brands. New shopping centres tend to be opening almost every month, and the Golden Triangle is the city's retail mecca with the greatest concentration of major retail complexes such as Suria KLCC and Pavilion KL.
